social media campaign #savethechildren

  1. HASHTAG: #savethechildren; ORIGIN: was found in London on 15 April 1919 by Eglantine Jebb and Dorothy Buxton
  2. Purpose: to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts.
  3. Evidence of the campaign: they have their official websites and also official accounts on Twitter and Facebook (websites and accounts for different regions). 
  4. TIMELINE: (1919) Eglantine Jebb founded the Save the Children Fund in England - (1932) they started the initial programs provide clothing, school supplies and hot lunches to school children in Kentucky - (1980) “child survival revolution” is to reduce maternal and child mortality - (2006) “Rewrite the Future” is the Save the Children’s first global campaign involving all 28 members of the Save the Children Alliance, it was focusing on obtaining equal and quality education for children who are unable to attend school due to conflict or war - (2012) “Every Beat Matters” aims to end preventable child deaths- (2014) released a campaign video about what life would be like for British kids if a civil war erupted in London named “If London Were Syria"
  5. Achievements: Save the Children worked in over 120 countries to provide children a healthy start in life, an opportunity to learn and protection from harm.
